Steve Cotterill replaced Harry Redknapp as Birmingham City manager in late September 2017 after the Blues went on a run of six straight defeats in all competitions.

Redknapp kept the club in the Championship last season, agreed an extended contract at St Andrew's off the back of that and invested heavily in the squad in the summer.

That only really created a disjointed squad, adding to a group of players assembled under the contrasting ideologies of Gary Rowett and Gianfranco Zola, with the latter overseeing an alarming slide down the table having taken over from the former and taking the club perilously close to relegation zone.

Cotterill's job has largely consisted of taking that group of players put together with differing ideas in mind and molding them into a cohesive unit, with the added hindrance of being unable to spend money in the January transfer window.

In our latest FLW Duel, we ask; who was the better manager for Birmingham - Cotterill or Redknapp?

Cotterill has overseen almost twice as many matches and boasts more wins (7-4) and draws than Redknapp, as well as a marginally higher number of points per game - 1.04 v 1.

Redknapp actually had a better win percentage and less defeats than Cotterill so one could argue that Cotterill hasn't had that much of an impact.

I think the numbers only tell part of the story and Birmingham were heading downhill fast under Redknapp and the owners had to act fast.
