It is safe to say Luke Freeman has not has the best of starts to the season.

Queens Park Rangers’ attacking midfielder has been an ever-present for Steve McClaren’s side this season, playing in all six of the league fixtures for the maximum amount of time.

Despite playing a total of 540 Championship minutes, Freeman has yet to score or register an assist in the league.

The 26-year-old’s only goal came in the League Cup win over Peterborough United at the start of August.

Since then, his influence on matches has been pretty limited.

Freeman has averaged 2.3 shots per game, without scoring and averages 1.8 key passes too, but those have been unable to be converted by his teammates.

He boasts a pass ratio that is the best at the club so far this season.

The attacking midfielder is trying his best to help his side to a victory each week, something they have only managed once this term.

QPR are currently 22nd in the division, having lost four of their first six matches, something Freeman will be hoping to put right this weekend when he and his team travel to Bolton Wanderers.

An average of 1.7 dribbles per game have been attempted, but they have failed to get the Hoops up the pitch, being dispossessed 3.2 times per game.

Freeman is renowned for his ever-reliable first touch, but he has averaged 2.8 bad controlled touches per game so far this campaign, something that will need to be worked on.

His passing figures are admirable, meanwhile, having a pass success rate of 80.6 per cent, the best at the club for players who have played over four matches in the league this season.

Freeman knows his, and his club’s form have been below par and will have hoped the international break came at the right time to work on parts of his game that were lacking compared to his solid form last term.

QPR will be looking to arrest the slump, and if they have any hope of doing so, the 26-year-old will need to deliver, starting this weekend in Lancashire.
