Wolves are having a bit of a miserable season this time out, sitting in the lower echelons of the table and close to relegation than promotion.

Following a summer of heavy investment and an influx of what should have been exciting foreign players, Wolves were expected to challenge under Walter Zenga.

However, Zenga has since been removed and replaced by Paul Lambert, who has done a steady job of trying to turn things around at Molineux.

However, he does want more players, and one player he might want to swoop for is out of favour Leeds United midfielder Alex Mowatt.

Mowatt has fallen down the pecking order at Elland Road under Garry Monk, so could well be open to a move elsewhere before the January window shuts.

With that in mind, FLW writer Lee Connor takes a look at TWO reasons why Wolves should look to sign Alex Mowatt…

Championship experience

Lambert has made no secret of his desire to add players who have some Championship experience behind them, and despite Mowatt being relatively young, he does have it.

He is a tricky customer too, and if nurtured right and given a run in the team, he could well be an excellent capture for Lambert and Wolves.

Mowatt’s ability has never really been in question, but he just needs a platform to showcase his talent a bit more regularly.

He might have a point to prove

One thing Wolves could benefit from is Mowatt’s attitude.

Being left out at Leeds will have no doubt been a blow to the midfielder’s confidence, but if he can use that blow to channel his reaction in the right way, he could rediscover the form he showed a few seasons ago.

If Lambert can man-manage Mowatt to getting the best out of him, he will no doubt be of huge benefit to Wolves in the final few months of the season.
