Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Kenny Jackett might consider utilising the loan market after an injury to defender Ethan Ebanks-Landell leaves him short of defensive cover, according the Express & Star.

Ethan Ebanks-Landell could face up to four months on the sidelines

The defender could face up to four months on the sidelines after sustaining a stress fracture in his left foot, which would leave Wolves short of cover behind first-choice centre-back pairing Danny Batth and Kortney Hause.

Wolves have made a mixed start to the season, but find themselves in ninth position after picking up four wins and three draws from their opening ten games this season.

22-year-old Ebanks-Landell will see a specialist on Monday to determine whether his injury requires surgery, with the club hopeful that that option can be avoided in order to have the player back much sooner, and help bolster the lagging defensive options at the Championship club.

Wolves' head of medical Phil Hayward said: 'After conversations with the consultant we will decide whether we opt for surgery. If we decided not to do that it would be a case of offloading for a period of time. It’s a conversation to have with the specialist.'

As a result, Jackett could be eager to use the loan market to bring in some defensive cover, but the current uncertainty around the club following chairman Steve Morgan’s departure from Molineux has raised questions about their recruitment.

Jackett said: 'Myself and Kevin will continue to do our work and at the right time ask the questions.

'I do appreciate the right time may be the January transfer window or before that, if we feel we can improve the side because of situations like this. We will ask the question to see where we are. It is something we need to keep our eye on. We are one injury away from not having a recognised centre-back, or having to change things around when we don’t want to.'

Whether the Wolves boss decides to dip into the emergency loan window remains to be seen, but it is unlikely that someone will be brought in before Wolves' visit to seventh placed Derby County after the international break.
