Wolverhampton Wanderers have had a bid turned down by Blackburn Rovers for the services of midfielder Ben Marshall, according to the Mirror.

The fee which Wolves submitted is believed to have been £2 million, but now fellow Championship side Brighton & Hove Albion are showing an interest in the 25 year-old.

Marshall has been one of Blackburn's bright sparks in what has been a dismal season for Owen Coyle's team, and the manager has even admitted the midfielder will be dropped for their weekend tie against Birmingham City at Ewood Park.

Chris Hughton is looking to strengthen his squad ahead of their promotion hopes meanwhile Wolves boss Paul Lambert will want to consolidate his team's position.

Ben Marshall has made 25 appearances for Blackburn this season with one goal and two assists, as Rovers sit 22nd in the league, one point adrift of safety.

The Midlands club have already made a big name signing this week as former Aston Villa winger Andreas Weinmann arrives at Molineux on loan from Derby County.
