According to a report in the Daily Mail, Wigan Athletic have submitted a bid for Sheffield Wednesday striker Lucas Joao.

Wigan are searching for a striker to help guide them to survival in the Championship this season.

The Latics jumped out of the relegation zone for the first time in several weeks after back to back wins over Burton Albion and Brentford.

They currently sit one place above the drop zone and are above Burton and Blackburn on goal difference.

Warren Joyce is aiming to bolster his attacking options by adding out of favour Sheffield Wednesday forward Lucas Joao.

The Angola-born 23-year-old joined Sheffield Wednesday in 2015 from Nacional but he is down the pecking order at Hillsborough.

The twice-capped Portugal international has played over 50 games for Wednesday in the league during his time in Yorkshire, but mainly as a substitute, and only 10 times this season.

The 6'4'' striker is behind Sam Winnall, Fernando Forestieri, Gary Hooper and Steven Fletcher in Carvalhal's preferences.

Sheffield Wednesday fans - would you let Joao go? Does he have a future with the club?

Wigan fans - what do you make of this news? Would you sign Joao?
