Wigan Athletic midfielder Emyr Huws is somebody who should not be playing in League One in my opinion, and I believe that Championship clubs should be fighting over him because he has fantastic potential, but he just was not able to show it during his time with the Latics.

Emyr Huws has potential to excel

After originally moving to the relegated club at the start of the season on a loan deal, Huws saw his move quickly turn into a permanent one which shocked some fans and pundits in the football world.

However, with the move coming so quickly, Huws was not able to show the sort of progression that he had previously shown under Lee Clark while he was at Birmingham City.

Not many players make it out of the Manchester City ranks after being brought in at a young age, in Huws case from Swansea City and make it but Huws was a player that was expected to make it to the big time, until he was sold to Wigan where unfortunately for him, things just didn’t turn out the way he had hoped.

Now with a relegation on his CV, the 21-year-old will be looking to get back into the second division instead of settling for scraps in League One.

I believe that Huws would be a fantastic addition to many Championship sides who are lacking that creative spark in midfield.

For example, his former loan side Birmingham City would be a great place for him to go to. Even though there isn’t the same management team and there aren’t quite the same bunch of players there, at least he knows the surroundings and he is familiar with how things are run at the club.

The West Midlands side have been lacking a creative midfielder who can also drop deep when needed to and with the likelihood that former loanee Robert Tesche will not be returning to the club, I believe that City should be looking to gain the services of the young Welshman.

As well as benefiting the Blues, I also believe that Huws would be able to benefit the likes of Leeds United who recently lost their captain Rodolph Austin after he was released at the end of his contract, Charlton Athletic who have lacked that cutting edge in midfield all season a bit like Birmingham and maybe even the likes of Sheffield Wednesday and MK Dons.

The Dons have just lost Dele Alli to Tottenham Hotspur so are looking for a replacement and with them entering the second tier, I believe adding Huws to their ranks would be a great idea. If Sheffield Wednesday managed to bag the services of Huws, I believe they would be able to push on from where they finished off this season.

Personally, I believe that Huws would be able to benefit all Championship sides but I believe that if he was to move away for League One side Wigan, he would most likely move to one of these clubs: Birmingham City, Leeds United, Charlton Athletic, MK Dons, Brentford, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Reading or Blackburn Rovers because they are all in need of a composed midfielder.

Wigan Athletic fans...Have you seen enough of Huws this season to believe he should join a Championship side? Or do you think he should stay at the club who gave him a chance?
