This pre-season has felt absolutely crucial for Leeds United after coming so close to winning promotion earlier in the year.

Marcelo Bielsa's side were pipped to automatic promotion by Sheffield United before they were dumped out of the play-offs in dramatic fashion - a heartbreaking end to such a promising campaign.

But there is a sense that with a strong transfer window and another pre-season under Bielsa, the Whites will be in an even stronger position during 2019/20.

However, whilst most of the first-team squad having just returned from their pre-season tour of Australia, they, as well as some of the new faces, were involved in a behind-closed-doors friendly with Saudi Arabian side al-Ittihad at the Whites' Thorp Arch training ground.

The match finished 4-2 to the visitors, with Mateusz Klich and Robbie Gotts scoring for Leeds, there were very few first-team members involved in the match, the fans were still not impressed.
