Sheffield United will be hoping to keep hold of Iliman Ndiaye for as long as possible but whether they are able to or not remains to be seen.

The Blades have had a fine season so far in the Sky Bet Championship and have a great chance of winning promotion to the Premier League at the end of the campaign.

Indeed, Ndiaye has had a big part to play in that so far, with him in double figures for goals and also high on the list for assists this season for the Blades.

Naturally, then, such form attracts interest from higher up and, according to Fabrizio Romano, Everton are keen on bringing him in.

The Toffees are in disarray at the moment, though, and with their Premier League status far from secure at the moment in the Premier League, Ndiaye might well be best-placed waiting until the end of the season and seeing just which teams are where in terms of division.

Fortunately for the Blades, as per Romano's update it seems as though both he and the club are happy to get to the end of this year and then reassess and, with 18 months left on his contract, there's still a bit of time to make a decision - though obviously not bags of it.

Meanwhile, as per Alan Nixon Newcastle's potential move for Anthony Gordon could spark the Blues into movement, with them eyeing Ndiaye as part of the potential replacement plan if their star attacker does leave the club.

There appears a lot that still needs to fall into place with this particular situation, then, but as things stand it looks as though the Blades do at least have enough in terms of bargaining chips to keep Ndiaye to the end of this season.

Get there with him and achieve promotion, and he could well extend that contract that is starting to run down.
