Sheffield Wednesday have moved to tie Cameron Dawson down to a new deal at Hillsborough, with the goalkeeper committing his long-term future to the Owls.

Dawson’s former deal with Wednesday was running close to expiration, with the Owls moving to announce this new agreement on Monday afternoon.

The new agreement sees Dawson commit to the summer of 2024, with Garry Monk’s first-choice goalkeeper signing terms on a four-and-a-half year extension.

Despite Keiren Westwood’s impressive form over the course of his entire career with Wednesday, Dawson has displaced the Irishman as the go-to man between the posts.

The 24-year-old has made 15 appearances so far this season, helping Wednesday into play-off contention under Monk.

Dawson has started games consistently since taking the gloves from Westwood in November, and was involved in the FA Cup victory over Queens Park Rangers on Friday evening.

Here, we take a look at the positive reaction this contract news has generated from the Wednesday fans…
