Sky Bet Championship side Fulham will be looking to bounce back against Wigan Athletic, if they hope to break into the play-offs, after a momentum-halting defeat to Birmingham City.

A scrappy game at St Andrew's which was mired in controversy following Ryan Fredericks' red card for a reckless tackle on Craig Gardner saw Gianfranco Zola earn his first win as Birmingham City manager.

Lukas Jutkiewicz's effort in the 75th minute proved to be the difference between the two sides in an extremely tight encounter.

Although the defeat has halted Fulham's hopes of surging into the play-offs, Slavisa Jokanovic will be hoping his side can return to winning ways as they look to put pressure on the teams above.

Wigan Athletic's arrival at the Craven Cottage could be the perfect opportunity for Slavisa Jokanovic's side to bounce back and prove their play-off credentials.

FLW writer Elliott Wheat-Bowen has identified TWO Fulham players who must be dropped for their game against Wigan.

Chris Martin

At one point, it appeared that the arrival of Chris Martin on loan could be a stroke of genius for Slavisa Jokanovic and Fulham as the Scottish striker has already scored nine times this season.

Although Chris Martin is Fulham's leading goalscorer in the Championship, the 28-year-old has become a liability for the play-off hopefuls.

After Martin threatened to pull out of a Championship game against Reading and demanded that he returned to parent club Derby County, questions have been raised about the Scotsman's loyalty and commitment to the club.

Since the incident, Chris Martin has appeared distracted and unable to rediscover his goal scoring form as he has now gone three games without a goal.

The negative impact that Chris Martin has had on the side with his questionable behaviour has had a negative impact on the the team's spirit and togetherness.

He has also missed numerous penalties lately.

Fulham's lack of striker options earlier in the season saw Slavisa Jokanovic cornered and seemingly coerced into playing the want-a-way striker.

However, now that Gohi Cyriac has joined the side, Jokanovic may drop Martin who increasingly appears to be a bad influence and instead give Cyriac the opportunity to prove his worth against Wigan.

Lucas Piazon

Even though there are no questions about the Brazilian playmaker's natural talent or ability, Lucas Piazon seemingly had an off day against Birmingham.

Piazon who was playing in the left midfield role was unable to have an impact on the game or link up effectively with starlet Ryan Sessegnon which saw the pair substituted for Floyd Ayite and Shaun Malone in the 60th minute.

Given the opportunity, Floyd Ayite proved to be one of Fulham's brightest players in the last thirty minutes of the tight encounter.

The Togo forward did wastefully fire wide a golden opportunity in the dying moments, however, despite the miss Ayite did make a positive impact when he came off the bench.

On reflection, Floyd Ayite's performance will have given Slavisa Jokanovic plenty of food for thought and the Serbian manager may look to drop Piazon temporarily to give Ayite a chance to continue his good form for a string of games.
