New Derby County manager Phillip Cocu is not hanging about as he looks to strengthen his side, with 19-year-old Spurs midfielder Tashan Oakley-Boothe a player they are monitoring, according to a report in the Daily Mail.

Cocu will not have things his own way though, with a host of Championship sides including Swansea City, Huddersfield Town, Leeds United, Stoke City and Reading all said to be monitoring the situation.

So would Tashan-Boothe be a useful addition to the Pride Park squad?

We discuss........

Toby Wilding

"This makes sense.

"Following the expiration's of the loans of the likes of Harry Wilson and Mason Mount, and the departures of players such as Bradley Johnson and Craig Bryson, there is certainly room for some new bodies in the centre of Derby's midfield.

"Given the potential that Oakley-Boothe has shown during his time at Spurs - even earning himself some brief first-team opportunities - you feel he may be capable of being a reliable option for a Championship side with aspirations of a promotion push such as Derby.

"The Rams used the loan window to full advantage last season with the likes of Wilson, Mount and Fikayo Tomori, and it seems as though they will be looking to do just the same in the coming campaign."

Alfie Burns

“After so much success in the loan market last season it is no surprise to see Derby looking to complete a deal like this.

“However, I do question whether Oakley-Boothe could have the impact the likes of Mount and Wilson did last year.

“That pair arrived with a taste of senior football and it was obviously going to be a breakthrough year for the pair at Pride Park, but you don’t feel that’s the case with the Spurs man.

“It’s one that Mel Morris and Cocu will have to carefully consider before moving.”

George Harbey

“I think that Oakley-Boothe could be a very shrewd loan signing for the Rams, and he’d definitely fit into Phillip Cocu’s style of play.

“The Dutchman is known for setting up his sides to play an attractive, passing brand of football, and a player of the midfielder’s quality should thrive in that team.

“Derby definitely need to freshen up their midfield options, having seen the likes of Craig Bryson and Bradley Johnson both leave in the summer.

“Oakley-Boothe can also play further forward too, so he could be a good replacement for Mason Mount who has returned to Chelsea.”
