After a depressing number of years for Leeds United fans, there might just be the slightest suggestion that things might be turning around for the better.

In Garry Monk they have a promising young manager who already has Premier League experience.

He has recruited wisely, domestically and cost-effectively.

After a disappointing start, he has revived his Leeds side and the Yorkshire outfit are now sitting 10th in the Championship - potentially dreaming of a return to the Premier League.

While that might not be immediately achievable, it is certainly the long-term goal for Leeds - who were once one of the great English giants of football.

When Massimo Cellino decides to take a backseat in footballing affairs, put some faith in the manager and let him control matters on the pitch, then Leeds will have the platform to launch a promotion campaign.

Leeds United have a very good squad at the moment so picking a five-a-side team provided me with a bit of a selection dilemma.

Having carefully deliberated, this is what I believe to be the ideal Leeds five-a-side team, selected in a 1-2-1 formation...

GK: Rob Green

Leeds' goalkeeper situation is a choice between Ross Turnbull, Marco Silvestri and Rob Green and the latter is definitely the most reliable option.

The former England veteran has plenty of experience between the sticks and is a good shot stopper, which is the main skill a five-a-side keeper needs.

Despite his age, the 36-year-old is still athletic and able to get down to make good saves.

DF: Pontus Jansson

Leeds would need a defender to cover the back well in this five-a-side team so Pontus Jansson is their ideal man in defence.

The towering Sweden international takes no prisoners and is a no-nonsense defender.

An opposition striker would hardly get a look in with the 25-year-old man mountain sticking tight to his man.

MF: Eunan O'Kane

In five-a-side football, you need workaholics and Eunan O'Kane embodies the archetypal hardworking midfielder.

The Republic of Ireland international would provide defensive cover for Jansson in this side whilst also starting attacks with his passing range.

The tenacious 26-year-old loves a good tackle and would sit slightly behind his midfield counterpart.

MF: Pablo Hernandez

All five-a-side teams need one star to make things happen and Pablo Hernandez is the ideal man for that role.

The 31-year-old playmaker is among the most skillful players in the Championship and he weighs in with goals and assists on a regular basis.

Leeds are lucky to have the former Spain international and he would be the key man in this five-a-side team.

ST: Hadi Sacko

Five-a-side football is such a fast-paced affair which suits Hadi Sacko much more than it suits fellow striker Chris Wood.

The 22-year-old is quick and skillful and he would be worth a gamble here as Chris Wood would not be nimble enough to play up front in a five-a-side team.

The former France youth international is inconsistent but you'd take a gamble on him hoping you get his talent rather than his occasional hopelessness.
