Garry Monk will be looking to lead his new club back to the Premier League over the next few seasons, and will be hoping to get at least within touching distance of the top six this season in his first year in charge.

Steve Evans led the Elland Road outfit to a mid table finish in 2015/16, which with all things considered, was not actually too bad a season with all the off field distractions which were taking place.

To achieve his goals, Monk will need to be smart in the transfer market and bring in the right players to supplement a team which already has plenty of young talent in its ranks.

One place Monk will probably look is the Premier League, where he will doubt try and use some of his contacts from his days in the top flight to coax some of the talent available.

With this in mind, FLW writer Lee Connor takes a look at THREE Premier League players Garry Monk should look to sign...

Liam Bridcutt

bridcutt

The Sunderland man spent time on loan with the Whites last term and was impressive in the main in the middle of the park.

Bridcutt is available this summer and having already spent time with the club, would be an ideal signing to welcome back to the club under Garry Monk.

He would slot nicely into the centre of the park alongside Diagouraga, meaning they would have an extremely strong and combative centre midfield pairing to go into the season with.

If Monk can secure a deal, then Bridcutt will be an excellent addition at Championship level.

Kyle Bartley

Kyle Bartley99000

Bartley has already been linked with a move to the club and it would not be completely unreasonable to assume Monk will look at his older club to bring a few players in.

Leeds will need some defenders, especially at centre half, and Bartley fits the bill perfectly. He is a physical presence but is an excellent athlete with a decent turn of pace for someone so big, and could excel in the Championship.

He has previously played in the league as well, following a spell with Sheffield United, and the former Arsenal man might well fancy following his former boss to Elland Road.

Fraizer Campbell

The Crystal Palace striker is a name who seems to crop up every transfer window, but it is with good reason in all honesty.

He has never really nailed down a place in the Palace first team, but this does not take away from the fact he is actually a very competent striker.

Campbell has pace in abundance and at Championship level is a goal threat, as he has proved during his time with Cardiff and Hull. The former Man United youngster is 28 now and should be coming into the prime of his career, so a move now might well benefit him.

If Campbell can hit form for Garry Monk, he could turn out to be one of the top strikers in the Championship as the season pans out.
