Brentford have had an interesting first two seasons in the Championship.

They were on the brink of promotion in the first year but lost to Middlesbrough in the play-offs. Then last season they were in danger of being sucked into a relegation scrap.

Dean Smith will be determined to turn around their fortunes next year and will need to bolster his squad to do so.

Whilst there are a number of good players at Brentford, the squad is relatively small.

The Bees will need to recruit well over the summer period to give them a chance of climbing up the league table.

The Premier League always has a pool of players suitable for Championship clubs.

Sometimes players might drop down a level to reignite their career or because they can no longer compete at the top level. Alternatively, they might fancy regular first team football.

Here are THREE Premier League players that Brentford should consider buying......

Andre Wisdom

Andre Wisdom is never going to be good enough for Liverpool.

The stocky 23-year-old can operate anywhere across the back four and has good strength which makes him a useful Championship player.

His defensive frailties were exposed at times in his 10 Norwich appearances so a Premier League move perhaps looks unlikely but he would thrive in the second tier.

The strong and quick former England youth international would be able to play at right back or centre back for Brentford and an ideal addition to the defensive ranks.

Sergi Canos

Contract talks have currently broken down between Sergi Canos and Liverpool, with the Merseyside Giants not willing to meet his wage demands.

As a result, Klopp is ready to cash in on the talented Spaniard for as little as £2.5m but with a buy-back clause.

Bristol City are monitoring the situation and are ready to pounce but Brentford should come in for the 19-year-old too.

Canos enjoyed a successful loan spell with the Bees last year and scored 7 times in 38 appearances.

The attacking midfielder would slot straight back into a club where he is settled and the move suits all three parties.

Matej Vydra

Brentford lacked a goalscorer last season.

Lasse Vibe and Alan Judge contributed double figures.

Canos, Hogan and Swift all chipped in.

But they lack that 20-goal-a-season striker - they haven't replaced Andre Gray.

Matej Vydra might have made less of an impact last year at Reading but he has scored goals before and he could do again with the right service.

He is surplus to requirements at Watford and knows the Championship well so he could be a shrewd signing if Brentford could pick him up for cheap.
