As Sheffield Wednesday pick up the pieces of a play off final defeat, manager Carlos Carvalhal will no doubt be deep in thought about who he needs to be looking to sign over the summer to ensure the team keep moving forward in the summer.

The Owls had a tremendous season all things considered though, and reaching the end of season showpiece can count as a real success given it was manager Carvalhal's first season in charge.

The Portuguese man will no doubt be looking to add to his squad over the summer though, supplementing the already proven signings of Fernando Forestieri, Gary Hooper, and Jack Hunt.

The Owls board will be confident going into next season, but with top quality sides coming down from the Premier League with plenty of money to splash around, they will need to make good sound decisions in the market if they are to compete.

FLW writer Lee Connor takes a look at THREE Premier League players Sheffield Wednesday could look to sign this summer...

Victor Moses

The Owls have lacked a bit of direct pace going forward and it could be argued that a winger should be on the agenda going into next season.

Moses has struggled since moving to Chelsea, failing to hold down a place in the team and spending loan spells with Stoke, Liverpool, and last season, West Ham United.

Moses looks to have enough quality to perform at Premier League level, but maybe a season in the Championship could do him a world of good. His pace and trickery could make him a real asset at Hillsborough next season if he is brought in.

Connor Wickham

The Crystal Palace striker has previously spent time at Hillsborough and there is little doubt in anyones mind that he would be welcomed back by Owls fans.

The big striker is a real handful and seems to only perform and be picked sporadically in the Premier League, meaning he really does suit the Championship.

The Owls have options in Joao, Hooper, and Forestieri, but adding someone like Wickham could be a real coup. With Palace linked with big money moves for a host of strikers, Wickham could well make a loan move to S6 once more.

Marcin Wasilewski

Despite being a Premier League winner last season with Leicester City, the big defender is unlikely to uproot Robert Huth and Wes Morgan from their starting berths, and the Foxes are more than likely to add further to their squad over the summer.

This could leave Wasileski well out of the frame, meaning a club like Wednesday could consider a swoop.

He is big, strong, and a dominant force in the air and would really add some much needed strength and experience the Owls back line. Next to Tom Lees, it could be a partnership tailor made for Championship football.

Owls fans, what do you think to these names? Would you take them? Who else would you like to sign? Let us know in the comments!
