After coming agonisingly close to promotion last term, it seems as if Pompey are absolutely destined for promotion this year, after seasons of the same phrase being used that fans are accustomed to, "Typical Portsmouth".

With the signings of Carl Baker, Milan Lalković and Danny Rose to name a few, Portsmouth have been dubbed the favourites to win the League Two title this year once again.

But this is football, and nothing is simple, and as well as signing these elite, high profile players, Pompey need to consider letting some go in order to achieve the ultimate goal this term.

Here, FLW writer George Harbey identifies THREE players that should look to move away from Fratton Park in order to benefit their playing career.....

Danny Hollands

After netting 5 times in 7 appearances in what was a magnificent loan spell in the 2013/14 campaign, Hollands has failed to cut it under Paul Cook after penning a permanent deal in 2014.

After making a total 83 appearances for the South Coast club, the former Charlton man finds himself severely down the pecking order, and to make matters worse, sustained a ligament injury in the playoffs against Plymouth last term.

Plus, with the signings of Baker and Rose, with Adam Barton and skipper Michael Doyle, it seems inevitable that Hollands will be departing Fratton Park.

Kal Naismith

In and around the first team last term, Naismith never really made the impact at Fratton, like he did at the likes of Accrington and Rangers beforehand.

The winger was hit with a thigh injury in the early stages of the 15/16 campaign which halted his progress in becoming a regular in the first team.

A short loan spell to Hartlepool was set up for the Scottish forward, however failed to make a breakthrough up North, making just 4 appearances.

Talismen Gary Roberts, Kyle Bennett and Gareth Evans, all made a growing impact amongst the Fratton faithful last time around, and with the addition of Carl Baker and Milan Lalkovic, it will be very hard to see Naismith get much game time, if any this season.

At 24 years of age, it is clear to see that any professional that age needs to be playing football. Naismith may be one of the unfortunate players to be heading for the exit door this term.

Gareth Evans

Despite netting 10 times in 40 appearances for Pompey last term, Evans still finds himself down the pecking order under Cook, which only exemplifies the depth in numbers and quality the Blues have.

The former Fleetwood man was a key asset last term for Pompey, however with the additions of Carl Baker and Milan Lalkovic, I for one am finding it very hard to see Evans feature at all for Pompey this year.
