After coming agonisingly close to promotion last term, many Sheffield Wednesday fans are hoping Carlos Carvalhal can bring similar success in the Championship this time out.

It’s been a decent start from Wednesday but their 17 point haul from ten games isn’t going to blow the league away, and they’ll have to pick up more wins if they’re to keep up with the top of the table.

Here at Football League World, we wanted to take a look at the best bargain-buys that the Hillsborough faithful have seen over the last decade.

With that in mind, FLW writer George Harbey takes us through the THREE best bargain Sheffield Wednesday signings from the past 10 years…

Kieran Lee

kieran leed

After rejecting an offer from Oldham Athletic in 2012, Lee signed on at Hillsborough on a free, and has gone on to be a revelation for Carvalhal's men.

His two goals, one a stoppage time winner, against Nottingham Forest typifies just how important the 28-year-old is to Wednesday, and even more so, just how much of a coup it was bringing him to Yorkshire.

Fernando Forestieri

forestieriiii

The prolific Italian has undoubtedly proved triple his worth, netting 15 times in his 15/16 debut season at Hillsborough.

After a below par 14/15 season despite winning promotion to Premier League with Watford, scoring only 5 goals in 25 games, mixed with the combination of constant manager changes, Forestieri found himself sliding down the pecking order at Vicarage Road, before sealing a move to the Yorkshire club, where he has become a sensational player.

Sam Hutchinson

hutchinsonnnn

After Chelsea made the versatile midfielder, who can also operate as a centre half, available on a free transfer, Wednesday pounced on the chance of permanently signing the 27-year-old in 2014, after a magnificent loan spell.

Since then, Hutchinson has been fantastic for the Owls, chipping in with a few assists and helping out the attacking line, whilst also bolstering and shoring up the back line as a temporary replacement for Glenn Loovens.

So...What do you think Wednesday fans? Would you agree with these three suggestions? Which other signings would you say have been bargain-buys? Leave your suggestions and thoughts in the comments below!
