In what has been a season of high and lows for Wolverhampton Wanderers, the arrival of Paul Lambert has seen the club stabilise under the Scotsman's management.

Over just two transfer windows, Wolverhampton Wanderers have recruited fifteen players following the Chinese takeover.

Some of the players have been outright successes including Helder Costa, who has arguably been the signing of the season in the Sky Bet Championship.

However, following the departure of Walter Zenga, some players have fallen out of favour and some have been unable to make an impression on Paul Lambert.

After such a drastic change in the summer and the departure of Walter Zenga, Paul Lambert will want to stamp his identity on the squad which will see some fringe players leave in the summer.

FLW writer Elliott Wheat-Bowen looks at two Wolves fringe players who need to be offloaded from the team in the summer.

Silvio

The 29-year-old full-back joined Wolves from Atletico Madrid in the summer as part of Wolves' Portuguese transformation.

Having spent the season on loan at Portuguese giants SL Benfica, there was a buzz of optimism around the arrival of the Portuguese international.

However, unlike Ivan Cavaleiro and Helder Costa, Silvio has failed to live up to the expectations, having only made two appearances in the Championship for Wolves.

A combination of injuries and Silvio falling out of favour have seen the Portuguese defender not feature in Wolves' match-day squad since mid-November.

As it is clear that Paul Lambert is content with his current full-backs Matt Doherty and Connor Coady, Silvio is on the very fringe of Wolves squad and it is likely that he will be offloaded in the summer.

Prince Oniangué

Another summer arrival was Congolese midfielder Prince Oniangué who joined Wolverhampton Wanderers from Stade Reims.

Despite Oniangué playing a larger role than Silvio as he made eight appearances in the Championship under Walter Zenga, the 27-year-old fell out of favour at the club and hasn't made a single appearance since late October.

After falling out of favour, he was loaned back to France, this time to Ligue 1 side SC Bastia until the end of the season.

It is anticipated that Wolverhampton Wanderers may be tempted to sell the powerful Congolese midfielder back to a French side as they look to recoup the large fee that they paid.

Having been loaned out, Prince Oniangué is one of the fringe players at Wolverhampton Wanderers that is expected to be offloaded in the summer by Paul Lambert, as it frees up resources and space in the squad for Lambert to bring in his own personnel.
