Sky Bet Championship side Leeds United are keen on signing out of favour AFC Bournemouth winger Marc Pugh.

The 29-year old has played just 38 minutes of first team football for the Cherries this season, and is surplus to requirements at the South Coast club, leaving the door wide open for Garry Monk to make a move.

The Whites are facing strong competition from fellow promotion contenders Derby County, however a sleeping giant like Leeds is undoubtedly enough to lure the winger to Elland Road.

Leeds have made a fantastic start to the campaign, and are definite contenders for promotion this term, and with the January transfer window looming, now is the time for Monk to get rid of the deadwood and bring in fresh new talent that will help cement their promotion push.

Here, FootballLeagueWorld writer George Harbey identifies TWO players that could follow Marc Pugh to Garry Monk's Leeds United...

Lewis Cook

The Football League Young Player of the Year of last season is another one of those players at Bournemouth who is unlucky not to feature as much as he would like for Eddie Howe's men.

Cook is no stranger to the Elland Road faithful, having came through the ranks at the Yorkshire club, making 80 appearances.

However, since his arrival at the Vitality Stadium, the 19-year old has only managed to make one appearance for the Cherries, and has been heavily linked with a move back to Elland Road in January on a loan deal.

Jordan Rhodes

Rhodes has recently been told by Aitor Karanka that he can leave Middlesbrough if he wishes to in the January window.

For a player of his calibre and quality, it is still unusual how a Championship club didn't manage to pursue his signature in the summer, having been so prolific in the second tier throughout his career.

The 26-year-old has hit double figures in his last four successive seasons in the Championship, and would be an unbelievable coup for Monk and Leeds United - he would be the spearhead for their promotion push.
