Nottingham Forest have had a hugely disappointing first half of the campaign under boss Philippe Montanier.

With a takeover from a US consortium led by John Jay Moores imminent, Forest fans will be hoping that better times are around the corner for the club.

Sitting in a torrid 20th place, just two points away from the relegation zone, the Forest squad have simply not done well enough this season.

Too many players have not given enough to the cause and whether Montanier is in charge or not after the takeover, whoever is at the helm could be tempted to send a few of these players out on loan.

One positive this season has been the club's use of the academy and the youngsters they have coming through into the first team and January could be the perfect time to send some out on loan to develop their game further.

So here are two Nottingham Forest players that simply must be loaned out this month...

Lica

Since his arrival from FC Porto in the summer on deadline day, Lica has failed to make any sort of impact with the East Midlands club.

Brought in with a few other faces to try and replace the teenage sensation Oliver Burke, after he moved to RB Leipzig, the 28-year-old has failed to live up to his potential.

The Portuguese winger has only made three appearances for Forest so far this season and a loan move either back to his home country or to a club in the lower leagues could be exactly what he needs to restore some confidence.

Jorge Grant

The 22-year-old is another wonderful talent who has recently made the step from the academy to the first team.

Grant has had the opportunity to shine on a few occasions so far this season but has not yet been able to fully put his name in contention to start for the Reds every week.

The youngster undoubtedly has bags of potential, but a move to the lower leagues could be the best move to help him develop his game further.

Nottingham Forest fans... Would you agree that both Lica and Grant must be loaned out? Why has Lica failed to make an impact? Would a loan move be best for Grant to help him develop his game? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
