In what has been a frustrating season for Fulham, a slow start and inconsistencies in performances have likely cost them a place in the play-offs.

Despite the frustration, Slavisa Jokanovic has proved himself to be an excellent manager who will continue to enable Fulham's progression as they seek to return to the Premier League.

The Serbian manager's commitment to giving young talented players the opportunity wedded with Fulham's prestigious academy has been the perfect combination.

Fulham's productive academy system has seen over thirty players break through into the senior side in the past five seasons.

With such a wide array of young talented players to call upon, Jokanovic has unearthed some gems from within the academy framework this season.

FLW writer Elliott Wheat-Bowen looks at two young Fulham stars who will be worth serious money in the years to come.

Ryan Sessegnon

The 16-year-old defender has been a revelation for Fulham this season, after a meteoric rise through Fulham's prestigious academy system.

In a memorable breakthrough season, Sessegnon has made fourteen Championship appearances for Slavisa Jokanovic's side, as well as playing a large role in Fulham's FA Cup run.

The Fulham academy graduate has had a record-breaking season so far as his goal against Cardiff City made him the youngest ever goalscorer in the Championship and that goal was the first scored in the EFL by someone born in the 2000s.

Following a string of excellent performances, a number of Premier League sides have already begun stating their interest with Tottenham Hotspur believed to be leading the chase for the supremely talented defender.

It is unknown how long Fulham will be able to keep hold of Sessegnon, however, if they can keep him beyond the summer, Sessegnon will be worth serious money in the years to come.

George Williams

After joining Fulham's academy from MK Dons, another breakthrough star for Fulham has been George Williams.

But unlike Ryan Sessegnon, Williams' career at Fulham hasn't been a meteoric rise.

After progressing through the academy, Williams spent loans spells at a number of clubs including two separate loan spells at former club MK Dons as well as a loan spell at Gillingham.

The left midfielder has had to be patient, however, with five goals in seven Premier League 2 appearances for Fulham's Under 23 side, Slavisa Jokanovic may look to promote Williams to the first team squad.

Despite having a wealth of experience in the lower leagues, George Williams is still only 21-years-old with plenty of time to improve and develop even more.

Although much of the focus is on Ryan Sessegnon, George Williams could emerge as a young star who will be worth serious money in years to come.
