In what has been a relatively good season for Fulham so far compared to recent seasons, Slavisa Jokanovic's side sits just outside of the play-off places.

A number of players such as Sone Aluko and Tom Cairney have stood out as standout performers not only for Fulham, but also in the entirety of the Championship.

Ultimately, a lack of consistency and a slow start to the season may be Fulham's downfall in their pursuit of a play-off place.

As Slavisa Jokanovic looks to build on the momentum of this season, he may begin to assess his squad ahead of next season, determining who out of the current crop of players are good enough and who have failed to impress and will need to do so before the end of the season.

FLW writer Elliott Wheat-Bowen has identified TWO players who will need to seriously improve between now and the end of the season.....

Cyriac

With much of the anticipation of Fulham's January transfer window being based on the need to bolster the striking options, the arrival of Ivorian striker Cyriac was highly anticipated and well received.

Difficulties and complications with Chris Martin had led to issues about if Fulham should even field the striker who explicitly stated that he didn't want to play for the club.

However, a distinct lack of options forced Slavisa Jokanovic's hand who had to play the Scottish international when there was no adequate replacement for him.

The arrival of Cyriac from Belgian side K.V Oostende was a promising sign for the play-off contenders as they looked to push on in the second half of the season.

Faced with the pressure of adapting to English football quickly and that he is only at the club on loan for a temporary period of time, if Cyriac wants to prove that he is capable of thriving in English football and potentially earn a permanent move to Fulham, he will need to seriously impress between now and the end of the season as the one true alternative to Chris Martin.

Thanos Petsos

A few eyebrows were raised when Slavisa Jokanovic made the decision to sign Greek midfielder Thanos Petsos from German side Werder Bremen.

The 25-year-old defensive midfielder had played most of his football in Germany and Austria before making the surprise switch to Championship side Fulham.

Fulham was an escape for Petsos who had a nightmare spell at Werder Bremen, the outspoken Greek midfielder made unsavoury comments about Werder Bremen coach Alexander Nouri which saw Petsos frozen out of the first-team setup, having made only three appearances for the Bundesliga side.

After joining Fulham due to difficult circumstances at his former club, questions were asked about the Greek's discipline and if he would be a disruptive influence for Fulham, as Thanos has yet to make a single appearance for Fulham, it seems that he may be the underlying problem rather than the teams and coaching staff that he has been working under.

With Thanos Petsos' return look to Werder Bremen looking increasingly bleak, Petsos will need to seriously impress between now and the end of the season if he wants to persuade the Championship side to secure his services on a permanent basis.
