West Bromwich Albion sit nine points clear of third place in the Championship table, after defeating Bristol City by three goals to nil at Ashton Gate on Saturday.

The Baggies went into the weekend's clash hoping to bounce back from a disappointing 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest, where Matty Cash scored an unstoppable stoppage time effort to salvage a late point.

But Slaven Bilic's side clearly didn't dwell on last weekend's frustrating draw, producing one of their best away performances of the season to defeat a top-six contender on the road.

Two first-half goals in quick succession from Callum Robinson and Hal Robson-Kanu fired West Brom into a 2-0 lead before half-time.

Robson-Kanu then scored his second and Albion's third to secure the win on 79 minutes, two minutes after Romaine Sawyers was shown a straight red card for placing his hand on Jamie Paterson's throat.

Sawyers' dismissal couldn't tarnish what was a superb afternoon for Albion, though, and with Fulham, Brentford and Forest all being held to draws, the Baggies now sit nine points clear of third spot.
