Swansea City will be targeting their third consecutive success when they travel to face Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday afternoon following recent victories over Cardiff and Wigan.

Steve Cooper's side are currently sitting fourth in the Championship table following a recent upturn in form after they had sealed just one victory in their previous seven games, but they now face another tough test against the Owls at Hillsborough.

The Swansea boss has confirmed in his pre-match press conference that there will be a number of absentees for the trip up north with Jordan Garrick, Joe Rodon, Erwin Mulder and Aldo Kalulu all absent for the match.

Kalulu returned to first-team training towards the end of last month following a two-month lay-off with an ankle injury suffered earlier in the campaign, but he has not quite managed to regain full fitness ahead of the Wednesday clash.

This means the winger will not feature for his side until after the upcoming international break, with the first half of his season having been severely interrupted by the injury he suffered during Swansea's win over Preston back in August.

Kalulu joined the Swans on a loan deal from Basel over the summer, but this injury has limited to just two appearances in a white shirt, with the fact he started both these games suggesting Cooper had earmarked him for a key role in the side.

However, Kalulu's ankle problem has dictated otherwise. Cooper has deployed a variety of attacking set-ups throughout Swansea's matches as a result, but it does seem as though Kalulu would have been heavily involved if he had remained fit.

This means that Kalulu's expected return after the international break could provide Swansea with a huge boost, as his presence will further strengthen their attacking options which already include the likes of Andre Ayew, Bersant Celina, Wayne Routledge and Nathan Dyer.

The 23-year-old will provide Swansea with a direct attacking threat on the channel, while he also possesses a high level of pace that the Welsh side have sometimes been lacking this term. There can be no doubt that Kalulu is capable of adding an extra dimension to this Swansea side.

It will be interesting to see whether he makes an immediate return to the starting line-up when he is fully fit, while it also remains to be seen which role he will play within the side. However, his imminent comeback can only be a good thing for the Welsh side who are now starting to build momentum following their positive recent run.
