Cardiff City will be targeting back-to-back wins for the first time this season when they welcome Severnside rivals Bristol City to the Welsh capital on Sunday afternoon.

Neil Warnock's side bounced back from their disappointing 1-0 defeat to bitter rivals Swansea when they sealed a 4-2 victory over Birmingham on Saturday, with Joe Ralls scoring a hat-trick for the Bluebirds who had been reduced to ten men following Danny Ward's dismissal.

Ralls' three goals helped secure a much-needed win for the South Wales side who will now be aiming to extend their unbeaten home record when they host Lee Johnson's side at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Warnock will need to make at least one change to his Cardiff side ahead of the match with Ward suspended for three matches following his sending off, while it is also possible that he will make further alterations to the starting eleven despite their victory.

The Cardiff boss opted for a midfield trio of Ralls, Marlon Pack and Leandro Bacuna against the Blues, and this added an element of stability to the centre of the park that was lacking when Ralls and Pack started as a duo against Swansea the previous week.

The stability of this trio against Pep Clotet's side means Warnock will surely consider starting with the same combination against the Robins, but his decision will be complicated by the likely return of Lee Tomlin following his injury lay-off.

The 30-year-old was restricted to a spot on the bench against Birmingham after missing out the Swansea match, but he is now set to be fully fit for the visit of Bristol City and Warnock must decide whether to play Tomlin from kick-off.

Tomlin's creative ability means he is one of the few players in this Cardiff side that can drive his side forward from midfield, with the Bluebirds simply looking like a much more exciting outlet with the former Bristol City man in the team.

However, Warnock will feel he may be risking his side's midfield stability by scrapping the midfield trio. The last time he opted for a more attacking set-up was against Swansea, where the Bluebirds' midfield was overrun by Steve Cooper's side.

This means that the Cardiff boss might well decide to stick with Tomlin on the bench for Sunday's match, but he must be prepared to bring Tomlin on if his side is chasing a goal in the second period.

Bluebirds supporters will definitely be eager to see Tomlin played in such an important fixture.
