The 2015/16 Championship season was one of change for Queens Park Rangers.

The arrival of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink in early December last year sparked a new era at the club under the ex-Middlesbrough and Chelsea player.

Some doubts were raised over the new boss' ability to manage at a level as high and competitive as the second tier of English football.

However, it could easily be argued that the time he had to change things from December onwards was a relative success.

The club finished 12th in the Championship standings after a highly competitive season drew to a close.

Therefore, after a season with a squad that he had very little responsibility for bringing to the club, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink will be looking to make his own mark in the transfer market this summer.

Having said that, he will also be aware that the squad possesses significant quality that will allow them to push on in the next campaign -  under the right influence from Hasselbaink.

A mid-table finish in the Championship is by no means something to sneer at, considering it is one of Europe's most competitive leagues.

Therefore, Queen's Park Rangers' squad is definitely full of some players that can light up the Championship next season in an effort to push them on to a play-off contending finish.

But, it should also be noted that the Hoops have some players that perhaps do not receive the plaudits they deserve week in week out.

Here are THREE under-appreciated players at Queen's Park Rangers...

Karl Henry

The 33-year-old midfielder has now been at Queens Park Rangers for almost three years, following his move from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Last season, Henry proved to be a vital part of the side in the heart of the midfield - acting as a defensive for the most part of the campaign as well as scoring one goal in the 2015/16 season.

However, Henry may not always get the appreciation he deserves for his efforts.

Perhaps fans want more goals from the midfielder but if were to be taken out of the team, Hasselbaink's side would be missing a very valuable player.

Grant Hall

Whilst partnering club captain, Nedum Onuoha, at the heart of the defence, Hall may not always receive the appreciation he deserves.

His performances over the 2015/16 campaign allowed him to establish himself as a first choice centre back in the side - making 39 league appearances in the process.

And, at the age of 24, Hall could again flourish in the Championship next season to become a top defender in the league. One thing is for sure, alongside the experienced Onuoha, Hall will be able to learn a lot.

Therefore, the 2015/16 campaign could see Hall be appreciated much more by QPR fans as he begins to develop even further as a player.

Sebastian Polter

Sebastian Polter

Polter joined the Championship club in the summer of 2015 for a fee in the region of £1.5m from German club, Mainz.

As a result, the sum for Polter may have led some Hoops fans to thinking that he would have performed much better than he did.

The German scored 6 goals and assisted a further 5 in 31 league appearances last season which is not terrific form and perhaps that is where the under appreciation lies. But, as most people know, the transition to English football can often be hard for players.

As a result, QPR fans should look forward to Polter most likely establishing himself as a good Championship player next season with a year of English football now under his belt.
