Sheffield United look to be on track to finally get out of League One this season, with the Blades currently in third place and looking to end a six-year absence from the Championship.

Chris Wilder arrived from Northampton Town during the summer and he appears to have instilled fresh ideas and an air of confidence into his squad of players, with supporters now starting to believe that the 2016/17 campaign can be their year.

Wilder’s men were beaten in the league last Wednesday for the first time in 15 matches by Walsall, although everyone associated with the South Yorkshire-based club will hope that the loss was just a blip.

The Blades were defeated in the FA Cup on Sunday, although that isn’t likely to bother too many people at the club with full focus now firmly on winning promotion.

Ahead of the January transfer window, Football League World writer Lee Clarke looks at four strikers who Sheffield United could look to try and sign.

Omar Bogle

The Grimsby Town striker has been in scintillating form this season, netting 16 goals to top the scoring charts for the entire country at this stage.

The 23-year-old is attracting interest from Championship clubs and United might need to act quickly if they are serious about taking the ex-Solihull Moors man to Bramall Lane.

Bogle looks like the sort of striker that will score goal in whichever league he plays in and he would be a quality addition to the Sheffield United ranks.

Matty Taylor

Another striker who Chris Wilder might take a chance on is Bristol Rovers talisman Matty Taylor, who has continued his good form from last season into the 2016/17 campaign.

The striker has netted 12 goals in League One for Rovers this season, despite their indifferent form, and he looks set to become a wanted man once more this January.

The 26-year-old would probably jump at the chance to join a club the size of Sheffield United and his arrival would naturally bolster Wilder’s squad.

Frazier Campbell

The Crystal Palace striker is way down the pecking order at the Eagles and it was something of a surprise when he didn’t leave the club in the summer transfer window.

Given his pedigree of scoring goals it is likely that clubs will start to show an interest in the 29-year-old once the January transfer window opens.

The Blades would pull off a real coup if they can tempt Campbell into a loan move to South Yorkshire and the challenge of firing the club back into the Championship could be one to excite the ex-Manchester United trainee.

Rushian Hepburn-Murphy

The Aston Villa youngster doesn’t look to be part of Steve Bruce’s first-team plans just yet and a chance to play regular football would be good for the 18-year-old’s development.

Sheffield United have a proud history of nurturing younger talents and the Aston Villa forward would likely be a hit in League One.

The man tipped for a bright future with the Villains has already taken his Premier League bow for his hometown club, featuring twice before their relegation into the Championship.

Sheffield United fans, would you welcome these four to the club? Which of these do you think is the most realistic signing? Let us know in the comments below!!!
