Sheffield Wednesday are looking for promotion after last season's disappointing play-off final defeat to Hull at Wembley.

Over the summer, chairman Dejphon Chansiri invested in the side splashing on players such as Adam Reach, Steven Fletcher and Almen Abdi.

After an inconsistent start they won 4 of their 6 games in December to move them into the play-offs.

A couple of positives that have arisen are star players like Fernando Forestieri and Sam Hutchinson have put transfer speculation to bed, by signing new contracts.

Wednesday's defence has been quite solid with just 24 goals conceded but with a lack of goals scored, they need bolstering up front and that should be their priority this window.

Here, FLW's Michael Hasan identified an Arsenal player and a Manchester United player the Owls could sign next week....

Manchester United - Regan Poole

The strict instructions of Jose Mourinho a couple of weeks ago was he would not sell or loan out any member of the first team apart from Sam Johnstone who is now at Aston Villa.

But in the reserve side, Regan Poole is one of the most highly rated centre backs in the country for his age group.

He was signed from Newport after impressing and is an integral part of the Wales U21 side.

At Wednesday he would be excellent cover for Tom Lees and Sam Hutchinson.

Arsenal - Chuba Akpom

Wednesday need a bit more bite up front as their goals scored is not very good in comparison to Newcastle and Brighton.

Akpom is highly rated at Arsenal playing well for the development squads and he has Championship experience, helping Hull win promotion last season and has previously played for Nottingham Forest.

They could also opt for Yaya Sanogo who has prior experience with Charlton but he has less chance of starting than Akpom.
