Sheffield Wednesday look set to secure the signing of Sam Winnall, with the striker having a medical at the club, reports Journalist Pete O’Rourke.
The Barnsley striker has attracted attention from both the Owls and Norwich City, but looks set to seal a deal with Barnsley’s Yorkshire rivals.
Winnall is expected to be leaving for a cut price of £500,000, due to the striker’s contract running down.
The 25-year old striker has scored 11 goals in 22 appearances so far this season, for a Barnsley side who sit eighth in the Sky Bet Championship table.
With Winnall set to move across Yorkshire to join up with Carlos Carvalhal’s Sheffield Wednesday side, Wednesday fans will be hoping the striker can help them secure their play-off spot in 2017.
The Owls currently sit sixth in the table, and will be looking to challenge for promotion in 2017.
Wednesday face fellow play-off hopefuls Huddersfield Town in a Yorkshire derby on Saturday.
