Queens Park Rangers supporters have very little to be joyful about this season, with the club sitting above the drop in a disappointing 16th position.

It hasn't helped with the change of manager.

R's fans would have been optimistic at the start of the campaign with Dutchman Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink leading them to a comfortable 3-0 victory, over Leeds United in the first match.

Since then, QPR slowly drifted down the table.

From play-off ambitions to now looking over their shoulders at the teams below them.

Ian Holloway has seemingly steadied the ship at Loftus Road since being appointed in November.

Whilst results haven't vastly improved, the former Blackpool manager has taken a lot of pressure of the players and completed very smart transfer business during January - getting rid of deadwood taking up the wage budget and bringing in young, hungry talent.

It's difficult to point out more than two positives from QPR's performances this season, but here are THREE of their best players of the 2016/17 campaign so far....

Alex Smithies

The 26 year-old has been conceding far too many goals this year, but that doesn't mean he's put in a load of poor performances.

In fact, I think many Queens Park Rangers fans will agree with me that Alex Smithies does not deserve all the criticism which he currently receives - the fault lies with the very lacklustre defence that Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink left behind.

Smithies has made 30 appearances for the club this season and has five clean sheets, and if you ask me that's not a bad ratio for a team lingering above the relegation zone.

Whilst this may be a shortlist of the three best players at Loftus Road this campaign, I think the goalkeeper is arguably deserving of their Player of the Season award.

Pawel Wszolek

Having initially joined QPR on loan from Italian outfit Hellas Verona last summer, Pawel Wszolek put pen-to-paper on a permanent deal at Loftus Road in late January to commit his long-term future to the club.

The attacking midfielder is supposedly Tjaronn Chery's replacement, who made the popular move to China, and is highly-rated amongst the R's faithful.

Wszolek, 24, has played in 21 matches for Queens Park Rangers this season and has contributed well to his team's goal tally, having hit the net on three occasions and contributed with two goals.

Whilst he struggled to make the starting eleven every week in the first-half of the campaign, the Polish midfielder is another one who has done his best in a dismal season for QPR.

Ryan Manning

Ryan Manning has flourished under the guidance of Ian Holloway having being handed his Rangers debut on the 31st December against Wolverhampton Wanderers, previously not even getting a sniff under Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

The 20-year-old midfielder joined QPR in January 2015 from Irish side Galway United, beating an abundance of interest from Premier League clubs.

Since playing his first match in the blue and white hoops, Manning has made 7 appearances with one goal and an assist to his name already.

The former Republic of Ireland under-19 international has potential and determination, and a call-up to the under-21 national team isn't a million miles away.

Queens Park Rangers have seen promising things from the youngster, being the forefront of nearly every attack.

Despite only appearing half way through the season, the campaign is diminishing quickly and Ryan Manning will be a positive to take out of this year when they look back.

QPR supporters, what do you make of this list? Do you agree? Out of these three, would you give the Player of the Season award to? Is there someone who isn't here but perhaps should be?
