Ajose is deemed surplus to requirements at Elland Road and spent the majority of last season on loan at Crewe Alexandra.

The 23-year-old joined the West Yorkshire outfit for around £150,000 from Peterborough United last summer and made just three appearances before being shipped off to Crewe.

Scunthorpe boss Mark Robins is on the lookout for a new striker after missing out on former Swindon Town forward Andy Williams, who turned down a move to Glanford Park in favour of a move to Doncaster Rovers.

Ajose began his career at Manchester United and came through the youth ranks at Old Trafford to sign his first professional deal in the summer of 2009.

He never made a first-team appearance for the Red Devils but caught the eye while on loan at Bury, where he scored 13 goals in 28 appearances, which led to a move to Peterborough United in July 2011 for around £300,000.

The striker spent the majority of his time at London Road out on loan at various clubs, including Scunthorpe, with spells at Chesterfield, Crawley Town, Bury and Swindon Town before joining Leeds last summer.
