Scott Parker has praised Fulham goalkeeper Marek Rodak for his impressive performance against Birmingham on Saturday.

Rodak kept a vital clean sheet as the Cottagers managed to come away from St. Andrew's with a much needed three points on the weekend.

Parker's side haven't been in top form so far in this current campaign, and have suffered heavy defeats to both Stoke and Hull in recent weeks.

This was an important victory, and shows that Parker's squad have the morale and ability in order to bounce back from adversity. A trait that is vital if you're looking to earn promotion from the Championship.

Parker has expressed that Rodak was brilliant in the fixture, and that he's got a bit of character about himself.

Speaking to Fulham's official website, Parker said: "He (Rodak) did really well. A young boy who’s come in and pulled off some good saves.

“He’s had vast experience in the league, although he’s young, he’s played a lot of games at Rotherham last year, and I have full confidence in Marek.

“He’s got character, he’s got something about him, and when you’re a ‘keeper you need that."

The Verdict

Rodak was very impressive on Saturday, and that will delight Parker after the defence had looked shaky in previous weeks. He'll need everyone playing to full potential if the Cottagers are to have any chance of returning to the top-flight in this current campaign.

They've had a topsy-turvy start, and there's a lot of games where they look simply brilliant but in others the defence has been all over the place. If they can improve that aspect, and carry on defending like they did on Saturday, then they'll be strong contenders for a top six finish.

It's always nice to have a strong goalkeeper between the sticks, and that could make all the difference come May.
