Stoke City travel to Brentford this weekend for Nathan Jones’ first game in charge of the Championship club after being appointed on Wednesday.

The former Luton boss replaced the now departed Gary Rowett after the Potters laboured to a 1-1 FA Cup draw with League One Shrewsbury Town last weekend, and that was the final straw before the now former Stoke boss’ dismissal.

League action resumes after a brief interval to facilitate the third round of the oldest cup competition in the world with the Potters looking to improve on their current place in 14th and cut the gap to the top six with a win in Jones’ inaugural game in charge.

Stoke have only won two of their last six matches, and have failed to win in their last three since their narrow win over Millwall back in December.

With that said, here's’ the starting XI we expect Jones to play when his side travel to Griffin Park.

Jack Butland should be in goal with a back four of Eric Pieters, Ryan Shawcross, Ashley Williams and Moritz Bauer lining up in front of him.

Jones likes to operate with a 4-1-2-1-2 formation, and that will see Joe Allen in the holding role in the midfield.

Sam Clucas and Ryan Woods will be just in front of him.

We expect Tom Ince to line up in front of those three in the number ten role just behind the Stoke front two.

And the two leading the line for the Potters is expected to be Benik Afobe and Bojan Krkic.
