Preston North End are hoping to reach the Premier League for the first time as they continue to chase a play-off spot this term.

Alex Neil is currently in his third season as North End boss and will be hoping to replicate the 2015 play-off success he tasted with Norwich City during his time at Carrow Road.

North End boast an exciting squad with players such as Tom Barkhuizen, Daniel Johnson and Ben Pearson all playing pivotal roles for the club this term.

The Lilywhites have produced some spectacular goals down the years and 2019 was no different, with plenty more stunners being on display across the year.

Here we have ranked the top five Preston goals from 2019.

5: Paul Gallagher - Middlesbrough 1-2 Preston North End - 13th March 2019

North End found themselves trailing at the Riverside last March thanks to a first-half Ashley Fletcher strike.

Paul Gallagher stepped up just outside the area to fire a precise free-kick up and over the wall for North End to level the scores.

The free-kick swung the game in North End's favour with Jordan Stockley completing the comeback for Alex Neil's men in the 82nd to give the Lilywhites a 2-1 win.

4: Callum Robinson - Preston North End 4-0 Ipswich Town - 19th April 2019

Robinson's first goal of two in North End's four-goal rout of Ipswich Town holds a worthy place on this list with the striker opening the scoring within the first six minutes.

Ryan Ledson fed the 25-year-old allowing him to turn on the edge of the Ipswich penalty area before unleashing a powerful 20-yard strike into the back of the net at sun-drenched Deepdale.

The speed of the build-up and Robinson's turn left Bartosz Bialkowski dumbfounded in the Ipswich goal as North End began their cruise to victory.

3: Tom Barkhuizen - Preston North End 3-2 Blackburn Rovers - 26th October 2019

A comeback winner in 82nd minute against your local rivals is always a sweet moment for any side, but Tom Barkhuizen's strike against Blackburn in October was particularly special.

With North End having the wind in their sails after canceling Rovers' two-goal lead, Alan Browne played a smart pass over the left for Barkhuizen to run on to.

The 26-year-old ran onto the inch-perfect pass to curl a lovely right-footed shot into the top corner, lifting the roof off Deepdale and giving the hosts a memorable win.

Are these Preston facts true or false?

2: Joe Rafferty - Swansea City 3-2 Preston North End - 17th August 2019

The score may be one to forget for North End but Joe Rafferty's stunning 11th-minute strike was one to remember for the North End fans.

Left-back Rafferty would cut out a Swansea clearance and cut in from the left-hand side to power a thunderous strike past Freddie Woodman in the Swansea goal.

North End would leave the Liberty Stadium empty-handed, after being narrowly defeated to the Swans but Rafferty's strike was certainly an early contender for goal of the season.

1: Paul Gallagher - Preston North End 3-0 Wigan Athletic - 10th August 2019

North End's third goal in their comfortable win over Wigan Atheltic in August is well-worthy of a place on this list.

Paul Gallagher's curling effort is the second Gallagher free-kick to make this list, with the 35-year-old being teed up by Daniel Johnson to power home a well-worked free-kick from just outside the left corner of the box.

The goal was the last as Preston cruised to a 3-0 victory over their Lancashire rivals.
