QPR striker Charlie Austin is set to demand a huge 100% pay rise in the face of Premier League interest for his services, according to Get West London.

Newcastle will not pursue a move for Austin
Austin will want a pay rise

The in-demand striker has been linked with a move away from the London side for a while now, with interest from Bournemouth, Manchester United and Crystal Palace becoming prominent over the summer transfer window.

But with Charlie Austin's shock decision to stay with Sky Bet Championship side QPR, he is looking for a large pay-rise to compensate for the lack of Premier League football.

Moreover, the 26-year-old is looking for a buyout clause should QPR fail to win promotion back to the Premier League this season.

Austin is currently earning around £20,000 per week, according to Get West London. The talismanic striker is now looking at a salary of around £40,000 per week - the amount that players such as Leroy Fer and Rob Green are earning at Loftus Road.

A number of clubs were after the proven striker throughout the summer but none managed to meet QPR's £15m asking price. There is no doubt that Charlie Austin will be eyeing the possibility of Premier League football next season - whether at QPR or elsewhere.

However, when asked about Charlie Austin's decision to stay at Loftus Road, QPR manager Chris Ramsey said: “You could lose out on not selling Charlie, but on the other hand you could gain more by him staying and making the club successful.

“Either way, as long as the player does what we know he’s capable of, and I’m sure he will, everyone’s happy.”

But if QPR want the 26-year-old to perform at his best, it looks like they are going to have to increase their wage bill to keep their star man happy.
