Plenty of Leeds United fans have called for Ryan Edmondson to be given a chance in the first team at Elland Road next season, after the striker scored a hat-trick in the pre-season win over Tadcaster Albion last night.

The 18-year-old stole the show as Leeds ran out comfortable 5-1 winners - with Jack Clarke and Robbie Gotts also on the scoresheet - as the players who are not part of the club's tour of Australia continued their preparations for the new season with a convincing win.

Edmondson opened the scoring for Leeds after just ten minutes with a low shot into the corner. The forward then prodded past the goalkeeper from close range for his second of the night, before heading in from a Clarke cross to complete his hat-trick.

Plenty of Leeds fans took to social media to react to Edmondson's performance last night, with many of them hoping to see him given a proper chance in the first team at Elland Road next season.

The teenager has made two substitute appearances for the Leeds senior side so far in his career, but enjoyed a prolific campaign for the Whites' under-23 side last season, scoring 19 goals in all competitions.

The striker will be hoping to get another opportunity in the first team at Elland Road next season and plenty of Leeds fans feel that he is ready to take his chance.

Marcelo Bielsa was forced to chop and change between Kemar Roofe and Patrick Bamford up front last season, as both players struggled with injury problems, but many Leeds fans feel that Edmondson is ready to make an impact for the senior side.
