Swansea City have confirmed that Steve Cooper and Trevor Birch have agreed to wage deferrals amid the postponement of football due to the outbreak of coronavirus.

The Sky Bet Championship season is on hold, whilst football worldwide is at a standstill during these testing times.

Recently we’ve seen a number of football clubs place members of staff on the government’s furlough scheme, whilst more predominant figures at clubs have agreed to deferrals.

The latest club to confirm wage deferrals is the Swans, with it confirmed that Cooper and Birch – the club’s manager and owner – have agreed to deferrals, with others at the club set to follow that lead; this will help furloughed staff receive full play and also zero-hour workers.

It’s an update that really puts Swansea as a club in good light, with the club’s supporters delighted that this stance has been taken.
