Ipswich Town defender Kane Vincent-Young has confirmed that he is on track to make his return to action in the club's clash with Blackpool later this month.

The 23-year-old, who joined the Tractor Boys for an undisclosed fee from Colchester United in August, has been forced to watch on from the sidelines in recent weeks due to a groin injury.

In Vincent-Young's absence, Ipswich have struggled for consistency as they have won just three of their last seven games in all competitions.

Since moving to Portman Road, the defender has managed to make an immediate impact for the Tractor Boys.

As well as illustrating that he is a fantastic reader of the game in a defensive sense, Vincent-Young has also provided a threat going forward.

Having already produced three direct goal contributions for Ipswich, the former Colchester man will be determined to add to his tally as the season progresses.

Speaking to the club's official website about his injury, Vincent-Young said: "The groin was bothering me so the medical team said surgery was the best way forward.

"Everything is going well now and hopefully I'll be back fit and ready for the Blackpool game."

Whilst Ipswich's clash with Oxford United this weekend has been postponed due to international call-ups, they will make their return to action next Wednesday when they face Lincoln City in a replay of their first round FA Cup tie.

The Verdict

When you consider just how impressive Vincent-Young has been this season, Ipswich manager Paul Lambert will be delighted with the news that the defender is edging ever closer to a return to action.

Providing that he can replicate the performance levels that he illustrated before picking up his injury, Vincent-Young could play a pivotal role in helping the Tractor Boys launch a sustained push for automatic promotion over the coming months.

However, in order to avoid the possibility of any further setbacks, Lambert may find it beneficial to ease the defender back into the swing of things.
