The Swedish centre-back was a popular figure at Elland Road ever since he arrived from Torino and his performances for Marcelo Bielsa last season were superb as the Yorkshire side just missed out on promotion.

However, he was surprisingly sold in the summer to fellow Championship side Brentford, with the defender claiming FFP reasons were behind his sale.

With question marks about his attitude at times, Jansson was booed by some fans on his return but he played well on the whole as the Bees competed with Leeds until Nketiah's decisive impact.

And, the 28-year-old took to Instagram today, revealing how it had been a tough night for him coming back to such a familiar venue.

"An emotional night and unfortunately we couldn’t hold out until the last minutes. A good game between two good teams and a good test for us to. On to the next one!"

The Verdict

It will have been a tough night for Jansson returning to Leeds as he clearly loved playing for the club and was a key player over the years.

He will be somewhat disappointed by the reception he got from the fans but there's no doubt that most appreciate he gave his all when wearing the Whites shirt.

His assessment of the game is probably fair too, it was a close contest between two sides but Leeds' extra quality from the bench made the difference and ensured they picked up the points.
