Middlesbrough's Patrick Bamford is sure he will start to score soon after a short run in the team and a positive performance against Watford, he told mfc.co.uk.

Bamford is sure goals will come

Bamford was shifted to a slightly different role, wider than usual, in Boro's 1-1 draw with Watford on Saturday and says his performance was something to build on, “It was a different role on Saturday, but the gaffer talked me through it and explained what he wanted.

Speaking to mfc.co.uk, Bamford said: “Even though I was playing on the right I wasn’t playing as a winger, it was more like a second striker, but the way the game was and how the opposition played it suited me – I managed to get on the ball and that’s when I can cause the most damage.”

Bamford, on loan from Chelsea, managed to set up Kike for the Red's only goal but was denied a goal himself by Watford keeper Johnathan Bond who put in an outstanding performance.

“I was having a laugh with Jonathan after the game – we know each other from playing with the England U21s – and he was saying he couldn’t believe the saves either,” said the forward.

“I think there were two he made against me and plenty more from others – he had a worldie.”

Middlesbrough are not in action mid-week and face a trip to Rotherham on Saturday and Bamford will be hoping his for can continue and result in a few goals, Bamford added:“I was happy to play and get back into the swing of things against Wolves and then it was nice to hear I was starting against Watford as well.

“That gave me a bit of confidence and I’m sure the goals will come once I get a run of games. As long as I hit the target, that’s all I can really ask for.”
