Leeds United are a club with a rich history, but in recent years the Yorkshire club have gone through some tough times, and have been starved of any success in both league and cup competitions.

However, for the first time under Massimo Cellino's nightmare reign, things are looking up. Here is why I believe Leeds United could be set for a return to the Premier League this season.

First of all, Garry Monk is a manager with undoubted pedigree. He worked wonders at Swansea City, taking over initially as a caretaker manager before being given the job full time, before his departure last season. Monk could be the perfect appointment from Cellino, considering his man-management skills and track record, and if he can get the most of an under performing Leeds side, the Whites could be on their way back to the top flight.

Secondly, Leeds' dealings in the transfer market so far have been convincing and extremely impressive. Experienced goalkeeper Rob Green provides top flight experience, whilst Kyle Bartley will sure up the back line. Matt Grimes looks like a talent in the centre of the park, and Monk fought off fierce competition to land Kemar Roofe from Oxford. On top of Roofe, Hadi Sacko arrives on loan from Sporting Portugal, and striker Marcus Antonsson provides a much-needed alternative to Chris Wood up top.

Finally, there is a real buzz around Leeds United for the first time since Cellino took over the club, and whilst Leeds have some of the most passionate fans in English football, over recent years Elland Road has been far from full. However, you'd expect that with this newfound optimism, crowds will increase over the course of the 2016/17 campaign, and if the fans back Monk's team all the way then you could see the Whites pulling off something special this season.

Leeds fans, what do you think? Do you agree? Will next season see signs of improvement? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
