As Blackburn Rovers prepare to play their 30th Sky Bet Championship match of the season, there is the general feeling that this is the biggest game so far of 2016/17 for the Lancashire outfit.

It has been a disappointing season of doom and gloom with a few high points for Rovers.

Owen Coyle's summer appointment was greeted with a real sense of underwhelming apathy and he has since failed to inspire supporters to believe fully in his methods.

Blackburn currently sit in the relegation zone, although a vital 1-0 win over Queens Park Rangers last week - courtesy of an injury time Sam Gallagher winner - has lifted them to 22nd.

They are three points adrift of safety with a game in hand but Coyle will know that points on the board are the most important thing at this level.

Blackburn have hit some highs this season, such as the shock double they completed over Championship leaders Newcastle United, but most of the season has been lows.

However, one cannot stress the importance of tomorrow's match quite enough.

Rotherham look dead and buried; they have had three different managers this season and only Paul Warne has been able to manage any sort of resistance.

Four wins and four draws all season paints the story for Millers fans - they are ten points adrift of second bottom and they would have to double their points tally (16) to escape the bottom three.

This is why Blackburn simply must get all three points.

Not a draw, they need to win this.

Victory would see Blackburn pick up back to back wins and have some momentum going into Tuesday's clash with Sheffield Wednesday.

They can put some real pressure on Burton Albion, especially if the Brewers lose away at Brighton (as expected) and Rovers would draw level on points with a game in hand on Burton.
