Fulham have seen many fine players come and go over the past couple of decades.

Their Premier League era saw the likes of Mousa Dembele, Clint Dempsey and Edwin Van der Sar grace Craven Cottage and they have had some fine players such as Ross McCormack, (the other) Moussa Dembele and current playmaker Tom Cairney since dropping down to the Championship.

The ultimate goal for Slavisa Jokanovic is to gain promotion to the Premier League and the Cottagers have certainly set a platform to compete for that aim with their steady start so far.

A thumping 5-0 victory over high flying Reading this weekend has been added to Fulham's ever growing list of fantastic results this season, including a 5-0 win over promotion hopefuls Huddersfield and a crucial derby win away at Brentford.

They currently sit three points off a play-off spot and are one of many teams competing for those coveted places.

Most of Fulham's business was done over the summer and it seems as if Slavisa Jokanovic doesn't have the final say on transfers.

He has recently urged the powers that be to snap up Chris Martin on a permanent deal from Championship rivals Derby County but I believe that his attention should primarily be directed towards another loanee.

Fulham need to secure the permanent services of talented defender Tomas Kalas.

The Czech Republic international has featured in 13 of Fulham's matches this season and has already established himself as the linchpin of Jokanovic's defence.

Kalas is one of 38 players out of loan from Chelsea and is lost in the depths of the obscene youth system that Fulham's London neighbours insist upon.

The 23-year-old is well aware that he is unlikely to make it with the Premier League giants, as he revealed in a recent interview.

The defender showed maturity beyond his years in accepting that his future lies away from Stamford Bridge and that he is just building experience so that he is ready to join another team rather than the Blues.

Maybe Fulham need to look into a permanent deal for the centre half as he plays such an instrumental role in their side.

Kalas is still young but very experienced at this level and he looks like he will be available for a fairly cheap price.

Everything is in place for Fulham to complete a deal if Kalas consents to a permanent stay at Craven Cottage.
