Norwich City rediscovered their form this weekend and ended their dire spell with a thumping 5-0 victory at home against Brentford.

The Bees were simply outclassed by Alex Neil's side in every department with the stuttering Canaries emphatically returning to winning ways.

In mid-October, Norwich defeated Rotherham 3-1 to leapfrog Huddersfield into first place in the Championship.

The bid to gain instant re-promotion back to the Premier League was going so smoothly and Norwich were leading the pack just a month and a half ago.

But things spiralled downwards uncontrollably from there as a 2-2 draw with Fulham was followed by five successive league defeats.

This terrible form saw Norwich drop out of the play-off zone, lose a significant amount of ground on the automatic promotion spots, lose 5-0 to Brighton and they were also dumped out of the EFL Cup against Leeds.

Alex Neil's job was (and I'd imagine still is) in serious jeopardy but this weekend's game has sparked a change in mood in the Norwich camp.

It was like watching the Norwich side that was so impressive at the start of the season again.

Jacob Murphy rediscovered his scoring touch and a solid defensive base set the platform for some fluid, slick and sometimes unplayable attacking football.

Norwich have a massive amount of talent in their squad and it just needed to be harnessed.

The potential was there but it was a matter of changing the losing mentality and getting the best players back in form and firing, which all came together against Brentford.

If Norwich can reproduce performances like that on a regular basis then they might well be looking at an automatic promotion spot come May, or a play-off spot at the very least.

This is the confidence boost (and sigh of relief) that Norwich so desperately needed and you should now expect them to shoot back up the league with more wins under their belt.

Norwich fans - do you agree? Is this the boost you needed? Are you still automatic promotion candidates? Let us know in the comments below...
