Leeds United's season has been in somewhat turmoil yet their form has picked up in recent games with a crucial win coming at Elland Road overcoming Ipswich 2-1 on Wednesday.

Leeds boss Neil Redfearn has turned to youth to bring new light to his side with Alex Mowatt (20) and Lewis Cook (18) both being integral so far this season.

Mowatt has a wicked left foot, scoring free kicks against both Millwall and Ipswich which haven't gone unnoticed.

He has Scottish roots meaning Scottish officials have watched Mowatt's performances and have been left impressed. The home grown kid is turning out to be a fundamental part of Redfearn's side, starting most games in the centre of midfield.

At just 18, central midfielder Lewis Cook's ability is that of a seasoned pro. Aston Villa and West Brom have both been linked to the youngster after Leeds stated they would not be renewing contracts until the end of the season to "focus on football".

Contractual issues aside, Cook's performances on the pitch have been outstanding, with many in the terraces hailing him as the next big thing.

In May 2014, he was part of the England Under-17 side that won the European Championship proving he can not just perform on a club level but internationally too. Cook is certainly one to watch for the future and Leeds fans around the world will be hoping he signs a new long-term deal in the summer.

Sam Byram and Charlie Taylor began a pairing as the starting full backs with Byram later being moved to midfield after the departure of Jimmy Kebe.

Both provide youth and pace to the side - an obvious eye catcher for boss Redfearn. Taylor has big boots to fill as ex-England international Stephen Warnock left for promotion contenders Derby but has certainly earned his position will some key performances.

The youth Leeds have on show lights up not just the individual game but the whole of the Championship. In a couple of seasons time I've no doubt Leeds will be back where they belong with the talent they currently display in the form of youth.
