Ipswich Town have had a disastrous start to the season and have consistently under-performed for a few years now.

Therefore they should part ways with Mick McCarthy as things are clearly not working out.

And they need to target former Birmingham boss Gary Rowett.

This needs to be doneĀ as soon as possible because they will regret it if they lose out on Rowett.

Gary Rowett is bound to be on the managerial wishlist of any lower-end Premier League club or any Championship club if they lose their manager soon.

This means he won’t be out of the job long.

He covered himself in glory at Birmingham, having lifted them from almost certain relegation to the brink of the play-offs in the second tier.

Previously he’d had a successful spell with Burton Albion and really set the platform for their double promotion to the Championship.

Rowett was not bitter about being sacked by Birmingham, even though it was an outrageously farcical decision which left Blues fans despondent and in disbelief.

Gary Rowett is one of the finest young managers in the game and he appears to be grounded, calm and measured.

Swansea have already been linked with him and Norwich might make a move if Alex Neil gets the axe.

Ipswich need to move fast.

Mick McCarthy has them wallowing in 16th place and they are closer to the relegation zone than they are to the play-offs.

Ipswich must part ways with him soon and get Rowett in before anyone else makes a move for the former Birmingham boss.

Ipswich fans – do you agree? Is it time McCarthy was sacked or does he deserve more time? Would Rowett be a good replacement or would you rather someone else? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments below…
