Huddersfield Town have been the surprise package of this year's Sky Bet Championship campaign.

Granted Reading and Leeds are in a more elevated position than we might have expected, but plenty of pundits tipped the Terriers for the drop, especially after they took a risky ploy of importing a load of players with no Championship experience in the summer.

Huddersfield sat top of the Championship until mid-October and have still kept up with the chasing pack.

They sit fifth, but they have a healthy six point gap within the play-offs over seventh placed Derby County.

Players like Aaron Mooy and Kasey Palmer have been excellent whilst Huddersfield remain tight at the back and prove hard to beat.

David Wagner really has done a stellar job at Huddersfield so far but he needs to be backed with some funds to buy a new striker this January.

If they don't buy one, then they may end up falling away a bit and not getting a play-off spot come May.

Their two options at the moment have been very good this season.

Elias Kachunga has proved a revelation with 9 goals so far and Nahki Wells has contributed with 7.

Mooy, Van La Parra, Palmer and others have chipped in too with goals.

But they need another striker to rotate with Kachunga and Wells.

When they were trailing at Sheffield Wednesday this weekend, Huddersfield played two centre backs up front.

You simply can't do that and expect to score goals.

If they invest some money in someone like Terrence Boyd, Omar Bogle, Jordan Rhodes or Danny Ward, then Huddersfield may well achieve an unlikely promotion by the end of the term.
