Bolton Wanderers are preparing for a trip down to London on Tuesday night to take on Premier League side Crystal Palace in the FA Cup Third Round.

The Trotters managed to eek out a 0-0 draw with Palace in the game at the Macron Stadium and have earned a trip to Selhurst Park for the replay.

This game is a mismatch on paper: Premier League Crystal Palace have home advantage and the likes of £32m Christian Benteke and England international Andros Townsend in their ranks.

However, Bolton will fancy causing an upset on Tuesday evening, and to factor in a cup run alongside their impressive league position.

Bolton are challenging for promotion in League One but they are currently trailing Sheffield United and Scunthorpe in the race for the automatic spots.

Here are 2 reasons why Bolton might fancy their chances on Tuesday night to cause a shock and beat Crystal Palace in the FA Cup.

Crystal Palace are downbeat

Crystal Palace come into this game on the back of receiving a 3-0 thrashing at the hands of West Ham United.

Goals from Sofiane Feghouli, Andy Carroll and Manuel Lanzini condemned the Eagles to a heavy defeat.

They have won just one game in sixteen attempts since September 24th; a run which has seen Alan Pardew sacked.

This losing mentality might be pervasive enough to creep into Tuesday night's clash.

Crystal Palace will have one eye on the league

New manager Sam Allardyce has come in with one main expectation: survival.

Crystal Palace will be desperate to maintain their status as a Premier League club but they are only outside of the relegation zone in the top flight by goal difference.

This could mean a weakened side could be deployed against Bolton to save the top players for this weekend's home tie against in-form Everton.
