It was been a terrible few months for the football club, as their financial and off-field problems spiralled out of control.

Bolton appeared in High Court last month over an unpaid tax bill of £1.2million and were placed into administration, after owner Ken Anderson failed to complete a takeover to settle their debts in time.

Former Watford owner Laurence Bassini had agreed a takeover bid, but the deal collapsed after he failed to provide proof of funding.

However, this latest statement from the club has confirmed that a deal has been agreed and the successful bidder has been notified.

The unnamed bidder has agreed to inject £1million in order to fund the immediate running of the club and the rebuilding of the playing squad ahead of next season, after the club confirmed they only have 14 players contracted for next season.

The bidder has proved that they have the ability of fund the club for a minimum of two years and the takeover has been approved by the EFL.

The club are hoping to sign an agreement to complete the takeover by the end of tomorrow, when more details can be revealed if signed.
